There are two basic types of solar panels that you find. The first type is solar heating panels, and this applies to panels used to heat water for domestic purposes. The second-discussed later in this article-it is the electric solar panel.
Thermal solar panels come in a variety of configurations. A set-up popular is the collector plane. This system uses plates exposed to the Sun, which contain sealed tubes filled with liquid. The liquid heats and circulates through the tubes through the tank of water for domestic uses, which heats the water. The effectiveness of this system depends to a large extent the amount of heat loss during the movement of the tubes of liquid warmed to the water tank.
A variant of this system is a homebuilt solar heater that uses the grid of a refrigerator discarded refrigerant to heat water. The household water circulates through the grid mounted on a glass-fronted on the Panel that acts as a trap solar heat. In its most basic form, this scheme cannot be integrated with the domestic water supply, but could be used as a portable system, separate for a particular use, limited, for example when you go camping.
Another version of solar thermal system works on the same basis as the collector plane above, with the main difference is that are heat collector pipes
vacuum sealed. This minimizes heat loss in great measure, even during the cold. This system uses circular also collectors who better continuous exposure to sunlight during the course of the day.
The second main type of solar panel that will occur if you do some research is the PV Panel, or solar panels. These are also called solar electric panels because they do not generate heat, but convert solar energy into electricity. Solar panels can be used to power almost everything in your family, from hot water system for your laptop, fridge or stove.
How does a PV Panel? A PV panel consists of a set of Silicon cells connected in series. When exposed to sunlight these cells convert solar energy into electrical current.
This current can be used to load a set of batteries, or can be connected to your home through a grid inverters to power your appliances.
There are a number of different types of photovoltaic solar panels. Monocrystalline photovoltaic panels are manufactured by a single large Crystal and are considered to offer the panels more efficient, but also the most expensive. Then there are the most common cells found in polycrystalline solar panels. These are Silicon cast blocks that may contain many small crystals.
As more homeowners are struggling to maintain a cash flow positive in difficult times, many of them choose to build a system of solar panels to make them less dependent on local power grid. What made it popular – regardless of how you actually work-photovoltaic solar panels is that they can be home built by anyone, even with little or no practical experience.
